Review: Acer Aspire Timeline

Acer has released quite a range of laptops to compete with the likes of Compaq and HP. The Aspire Timeline from Acer provides excellent battery life. You can use your laptop for a whooping 8 hours nonstop; such is the battery power! Apart from the battery, the laptop doesn’t weigh much and is surprisingly lighter than most of the other brands it is competing against. It comes in at just about 5 1/2 pounds.

This laptop is for those who are not concerned with the design but are looking for a long lasting battery. The battery life that they claim is actually one of a kind in any brand of laptops. This is achieved by a unique combination of Intel’s ultralow-voltage processors, improved power management and LED backlit displays. At the outset, the laptop is slim, with a decent design for a laptop and is also reasonably priced.

Acer has bolted out these laptops mainly to capture the hearts of gizmo freaks as they are the ones who look for long battery life. The finish is perfect and looks are quite trendy. This series has laptops coming with a variety of configurations and specifications and the starting size is 15 inches!

However, there is a small catch with all these features put in. The CPUs in this series are embedded with low performance processors which run at a paltry 1.4 GHz. One can’t expect notebook speakers to be amazing; here too the speakers are just too small to deliver just ordinary sound. The 6 cell battery is the reason for its long lasting life. An added feature is the light under the track pad which changes color to denote charging status. Overall, it’s a good buy for money as it is a better mix of a notebook and a laptop with decent storage capabilities.

The price is also very attractive for these advanced pieces of technology, ranging from $598 to $899.
